Carellan Sewing Centre CLASSES
SPRING, SUMMER 2008 CLASSES
• Workshops are limited to eight students. Register in person or by phone, with VISA,
M/C or mail us a cheque.
• Cancellations in 7 days or less of class start will receive a store credit or refund
less 15% of enrollment fee.
• No refunds or credits will be given after the class begins, and no refunds will be
given to no-shows.
• Prepaid registration is required. We reserve the right to cancel any class with
insufficient enrollment.
CONSTRUCTION CLASSES
LEARN TO SEW I (Instructor: Margaret Munn)
3 Mondays June 2, 9, 23 (no class on June 16th) 6:30 - 9:30pm $55 + gst
Learn sewing machine basics, patterns, fabrics, and interfacing
while you sew an easy top or nightgown.
LEARN TO SEW III (Instructor: Margaret Munn)
4 Thursdays May 8, 15, 22, 29 7 - 9pm $55 + gst
A continuation from learn to Sew II. Expand on your knowledge about
your machine, patterns, fabrics, and interfacing while you sew a blouse.
Learn about collars, cuffs, patch pockets and buttonholes.
BEST BRA (Instructor: Margaret Munn)
3 Thursdays June 12, 19, 26 7 - 9pm $45+ gst
We have all the special bra fabrics, notions, elastics and laces. With Margaret’s
guidance, making your own bra results in a better fit and a reasonable cost.
QUILT CLASSES
CRAZY QUILTING (This is a hand quilting class, Instructor Sharon Gowryluk)
1 Saturday May 3 10am - 4pm $40 + gst
There will be half hour break for lunch, refreshments provided, bring a bag
lunch. Sharon’s hand crazy quilting takes us back to a time when the ladies
use to gather to hand quilt that special item. This is a hand quilting class.
In this class you will be crazy piecing 2-12” squares and then making 3 items:
a pouch, an eyeglass case, and a needle case. Basic hand crazy quilting stitches
will be covered plus basic beading.
EARTH’S FARSIDE BAG (Instructor: Ingrid Lincoln)
4 Wednesdays May 7, 14, 21, 28 7 - 9pm $55 + gst
plus $15 kit fee payable to instructor on the 1st night.
By special request Ingrid is back. Learn the basics of free motion machine
embroidery and make a unique tote bag covering cut back applique, machine
couching, the free running stitch the cable stitch filling, and foiling.
Beginner to advance sewers will enjoy this class.
BETT’S BAG (Instructors: Doreen Lesage)
1 Saturday May 24 1 - 4pm $20 + gst
Back by special request, Doreen is teaching her famous Bett’s Bag Class.
This bag is great for holiday travel, or just shopping around town.
TRAPPED FLOWERS, FREE FLOWERS, AND STEMS (Instructor Mellissa Marginet)
1 Sunday June 1st 10am - 4 pm $40 + gst potluck lunch
In this class you will create a 12” by 12” art quilt using silk flowers.
This is an artistic class so bring your creativity with you. Free motion
quilting experience is an asset but not A NECESSITY. Plus as an added bonus,
Melissa will show you what do with the leftover stems.
A-MAZE-ING 9-PATCH (Instructor Mellissa Marginet)
1 Saturday May 10th 1-4 pm $20 + gst
In this classs you will learn one simple block that you can use to create
many patterns .You will learn about the different ways of arranging the block,
as well as how to adapt the block to Different sizes.

4D SOFTWARE GROUP (Instructor: Brandy Bilenki)
2 Saturdays May 31st, June 21st 1 – 3 pm $30 + gst
This is a project based class in that once you have completed the project with the
software, you then go home and stitch it out for the next class. Each completed
project earns a $10 store credit. Laptop computer required.
I LOVE TO SEW CLUB
3 Wednesdays April 16, May 21, June 18 1 - 3pm $15 + gst
Open to every one who loves to sew. Come meet a kindred spirit, learn a new sewing
technique or skill to make your sewing easier and fun. Share your tips or your
frustrations. Help find solutions to sewing problems.
SEW WE CARE
3 Mondays April 28th May 26th June 23rd 1 - 3pm COST IS FREE
Meet together as a group to sew for others. Everyone is welcome, registration
required – call the store for details.
SEWING FOR KIDS
LEARN TO SEW BASIC
1 Week July 7 – 11 Instructor Barb Bilenki 1 - 3pm $60 + gst
1 Week Aug 11 - 15 Instructor Lynne Bzovy
This class is for children ages 9 yrs. and up who have never used a sewing machine.
Students will learn how to cut out a pair of pajamas pants and sew them together -
a fun way to learn a life long skill.
FLANNEL RAG TIME QUILT (Instructor: Lynne Bzovy)
1 Week July 14 – 18 1 - 3pm $67 + gst
Make this easy lap quilt (40” X 56”) out of cozy flannelette using the sewing machine.
Quilt is made from 2 different pieces of flannelette. Batting and tying threads are
included in the class fee.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
1 Friday July 25 5:30 - 9pm $35 + gst
We will be completing another great project that will give you a jump start on the
Christmas Season. The cost includes all supplies and pizza for dinner. Class is
limited to 8 persons – call the store to register. If necessary, we will have a
2nd class on July 26th from 1 - 4:30pm. The project is a surprise…
